How to solve valve leakage?

1. Diagnose the cause of the leak

Leaks can be caused by a variety of factors, such as frayed sealing surfaces, deterioration of materials, improper installation, operator errors, or media corrosion. Second, the solution for different leakage parts

 

1. The closing piece falls off and causes leakage

 

Causes: Poor operation causes the closing parts to be stuck or exceed the upper dead center, and the connection is damaged and broken; The material of the selected connector is wrong, and it cannot withstand the corrosion of the medium and the wear of machinery.

 

Solution: Operate the valve correctly to avoid excessive force causing the closing parts to be stuck or damaged; Regularly check whether the connection between the shut-off and the valve stem is firm, and replace the connection in time if there is corrosion or wear; Choose the material of the connector with good corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

 

2. Leakage at the junction of the sealing ring

 

Reason: The sealing ring is not tightly rolled; Poor welding quality between the sealing ring and the body; Seal threads and screws are loose or corroded.

 

Solution: Use adhesive to fix the rolling place of the sealing ring; Repair and re-weld the welding defects; Timely replacement of corroded or damaged threads and screws; Re-weld the seal junction according to the specification.

 

3. Leakage of valve body and bonnet

 

Reason: The casting quality of iron castings is not high, and there are defects such as sand holes, loose tissues, and slag inclusions; days frozen cracked; Poor welding, with defects such as slag inclusion, unwelding, stress cracks, etc.; The valve was damaged after being hit by a heavy object.

 

Solution: Improve the casting quality and carry out the strength test before installation; The valve with low temperature should be insulated or heat-mixed, and the valve that is out of use should be drained of stagnant water; Weld in accordance with the welding operation procedures, and carry out flaw detection and strength tests; It is forbidden to push and place heavy objects on the valve, and avoid hitting the cast iron and non-metallic valves with a hand hammer.

 

4. Leakage of sealing surface

 

Cause: uneven grinding of the sealing surface; The connection between the stem and the shut-off is dangling, improper or worn; bent or misassembled stems; Improper selection of sealing surface material.

 

Solution: Correct selection of gasket material and type according to working conditions; Carefully adjust the valve to ensure smooth operation; Tighten the bolt evenly and symmetrically, and use a torque wrench to ensure that the preload meets the requirements; Repair, grinding and coloring inspections of static sealing surfaces to ensure that they meet the relevant requirements; Pay attention to cleaning when installing the gasket to avoid the gasket falling to the ground.

 

5. Leakage at the filler

 

Reason: improper selection of filler; Incorrect packing installation; aging of fillers; The accuracy of the stem is not high; Glands, bolts and other parts are damaged.

 

Solution: Select the appropriate packing material and type according to the working conditions; Proper installation of packing according to specifications; Replace aging and damaged fillers in a timely manner; straightening, repairing or replacing bent, worn stems; Damaged glands, bolts and other components should be repaired or replaced in time; Follow the operating procedures and operate the valve at a constant speed and normal force.

 

3. Preventive measures

 

1. Regular inspection and maintenance: Formulate a reasonable maintenance plan according to the frequency of use of the valve and the working environment. Including cleaning the inner and outer surfaces of the valve, checking whether the fasteners are loose, lubricating the transmission parts, etc. Through scientific maintenance, potential problems can be found and dealt with in time to prolong the service life of the valve.
